Jean Geiler Réserve Particulière Chasselas 2011, Ac

Lovely  wine!
Light yellow in the galss.
On the nose gentle aromas of stone fruits, spring flowers, pears.
On the palate off dry, floral, little bit of minerality, good balanced acidity.
Nice fruity finish.

Redemption Zin Zinfandel 2007, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County

This wine spent a few years in our cellar. Needs decanting.
There was a lot of sediment on the bottle's shoulders.
Beautiful wine!
Deep garnet color, opaque in the glass.
Dry berries and cooked fruit on the nose.
On the palate dry, full bodied, very big wine! Good, soft tannins.  Lot's of cherries, jam, spices, oak, cranberry, raspberry.
Long finish with raisin and spicy notes.
Amazing!!!
It's great now,can age more.

E. GUIGAL CHÂTEAU D'AMPUIS CÔTE-RÔTIE 2007

Rhone, France.

Another great complex wine from Rhone!

In the glass dark ruby color.
On the nose dark berries, cherries, chocolate with the hint of mint.
On the palate dry, medium body. Balanced tannins and crisp acidity. Very nice texture, with earthy, meaty flavors. Opens then to herbaceous aromas the floral and raspberries.
Long, a little spicy finish. Delicious!

Still can age, but wonderful now!

E. GUIGAL LA MOULINE CÔTE-RÔTIE 2008

Rhone, France
$290.00 at LCBO

89% Syrah and 11% Viognier.

Dark plum color.
On the nose complex aromas  of licorice, pepper, meat, herbs.
On the palate dry, medium to full body. Very ripe and rich flavors. Great structure, dark berries, peppery with hint of coffee.
Long, soft, fruity finish.
Wine is very good now, but can age for 3-5 years.

BC wines tasting

Mission Hill Family Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2010, BC VQA, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

In the glass, dark straw, bright, clear
On the nose,  light oak, tropical fruit, white currant, floral notes, parfumy.
On the palate, dry, fresh acidity, light fruit, crisp apple.
Medium to light finish.




Quails’ Gate Chardonnay 2011, BC VQA, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia


 Very nice chardonnay!

Light golden color.
On the nose ripe fruit, pineapple, tropical fruit,  floral notes.
On the palate dry, floral,fresh acidity, medium bodied. Light oak, coconut,  butterscotch,.
Medium finish with touch of vanilla.





Gray Monk Gewürztraminer 2011, BC VQA, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

Light straw color in the glass.
On the nose honey, floral, perfume, rose pellets.
On the palate dry, more acidity than I would expect. After a while opens up with ripe peach flavor, floral notes. Hot with alcohol. Palate doesn't follow nose aromas. Little disappointed.
Light finish with bitter aftertaste.





Eau Vivre Pinot Noir 2008, BC VQA, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia



This wine it the glass is light ruby color with briky rim. Bright, clear.
on the nose light spices, red fruit, cherries.
On the palate is not what I would expect from Pinot. Sour cherry, dry and acidic. Alcohol jumps at first. Bitterness of pomegranate seeds.
Light finish with cranberry bitter taste.









Osoyoos Larose Le Grand Vin 2008, BC VQA, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia




Classical Bordeaux blend. In the glass bright, ruby red, semi opaque.
On the nose green pepper, black pepper, blackberry.
On the palate, dry, medium body. Spicy, acidity and tannins unbalanced.
Short finish.
This is a big bordeaux blend and I would expect more flavor and richness from this wine.


Mission Hill Quatrain 2009, BC VQA, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia



This is a great blend! Will definitely get better with aging! And this wine is asking forr food, great with rich cheeses.
Inky dark red, opaque in the glass.
On the nose smoked meat, baked fruit, allspice, nutmeg.
On the palate acidity is little rough but disappears with good food pairing. Acidity and tannins are a little unbalanced, but will get better with aging.
Long fruity finish.
Very strong wine!

DAL FORNO ROMANO AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA 2006

Italy, Veneto.

That was the best Amarone I've tasted so far!
Deep dark ruby color, opaque.
On the nose rich  fruit aromas, flavors of sweet nuts, dried fruit, tobacco.
On the palate flavors are so concentrated!
Syrupy almost, sweet cherries, chocolate, baking spices, coffee. Full bodied, balanced, dry with high alcohol which I could not feel at all.
Long, delicious finish with floral notes.

2006 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan, France

Bordeaux.
Red wine.

Another amazing Bordeaux!
In the glass bright red-purple color.
On the nose rich and complex aromas of leather, black currant, hint of mineral.
On the palate, soft and silky,  with good tannins, and acidity. Flavor of smoked meat, black fruit, black pepper.
Long finish with aromas of vanilla.
Still can age and will get better in 5 or more years.

1996 Château Lynch-Bages

Red Bordeaux blend.
$349.00 at LCBO

Another great opportunity to taste an amazing wine!

Dark red in the glass with visible singes of aging.  Lighter, bricky color on the rim and on the core.
Intense bouquet of earth, spice, dry berries, pencil.
On the palate great balance of tannins and acidity. I"d say, this wine is ready to drink, but still can age for a few years.
Dry, with flavour of cherries, black currant, plums. Very elegant.
Great, long finish with mint and fruit taste.

Château Lamothe De Haux 2009, Ac Premières Côtes De Bordeaux


Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).

Bright ruby color in the glass. Semi opaque.
Very aromatic with red and black berries flavor. Little bit of oak and floral notes.
On the palate  soft, good balance, smooth, concentrated with fruit flavors.
Nice rich finish with licorice taste.
It was very interesting wine, very light for Bordeaux. But overall this wine was very pleasant. Can age for at least 5 years more.

Medium body, nice, fresh acidity, light tannins.
Medium finish with oak aromas.
