Wines from the expo

 More amazing wines!

Far Niente Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Oakville, Napa Valley

  $132.95 at LCBO

Shows the elegance and pedigree that this estate vineyard, in the heart of the Oakville bench, always shows. The tannins are sweet and ripe, and the wine brims with luscious blackberry, cassis and mocha flavors, accented with new oak that’s flashy, yet perfectly in keeping with the wine’s volume. Should slowly mature over the years.

2007 Paul Hobbs "Lindsay Estate Cuvee Augustina" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

$94.95 at LCBO

 95 points Robert Parker: "Hobbs’ top cuvee which comes from the Calera and Swan clones is the 2007 Pinot Noir Lindsay Estate Cuvee Agustina. Deep ruby/plum-colored, it boasts abundant notes of black cherries, cola, and smoke in its intense, full-bodied personality as well as a layered texture, sweet, velvety tannins, and a rich, concentrated mouthfeel. This is the first Pinot Noir Cuvee Agustina made by Paul Hobbs since 2002. The 2007 should drink well for a decade."

Piper Heidsieck brut champagne

49.95 at LCBO

Champagne Grape Blend:

15% Chardonnay, 55% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier

 Light straw colour; dry and medium-bodied with fine bubbles and rich yeasty aromas; biscuits and apricot fruit flavours with a crisp finish.

Terrazas de los andes reserva torrontes 2010

$ 14.95 at LCBO

One of my favourite white wines.
 Very pale color. Pear, licorice and flowers on the nose, plus a whiff of exotic lichee. Fresh, dry and penetrating, with sexy jasmine and rose petal hints contributing to the wine’s impression of lightness. The lively finish offers very good cut. A very light style of torrontes. Fruity and sensual, with an excellent acidity expressed in an outstanding freshness. With great aromatic and taste persistence, characteristic of this variety.
